TESTIMONIALS
- Smithsonian
Week in Long Beach:
For
one week each spring, three eminent scholars from the Smithsonian
Institution become members of the Long Beach community. Kids'
anticipation of these scholar visits runs high; one seven-year-old
told a scholar this year, "I've been waiting to meet you
my whole life!" The best thing about Smithsonian Week is
the connection made between these talented and accessible scholars
and their audiences.
Joan Van Hooten, Executive Director, Public Corporation
for the Arts, Long Beach, CA
- My class
loved the presentation. To have such an accomplished man in
their auditorium was thrilling for the attending students and
parents. The students were enthusiastic in their reviews.
Sharon Lahr, fifth grade teacher, Buffum Elementary School,
Long Beach, CA
- The seminar
on Mars was very interesting...Probably the best part about
the lecture...was [the speaker's] passion when talking about
not only recent advancements in technology and planetary study,
but also...the future...and our far reaching goals as scientific
explorers.
Bradley University student, Peoria, IL
- I didn't
go to college, but if there had been a professor like Dr. Robinson
there, I would have snuck on campus to hear him!
Audience member, Smithsonian community presentation, Houston,
TX
- What a
treasure trove of stories [about African American quilts] you
brought to share with us - definitely 'something to keep us
warm' on a very cold evening. I especially enjoyed the stories
that placed the quilters in context of community and your experience
of them.
Ms. Ann Fortescue, Director of Education, Heinz History Center,
Pittsburgh, PA in a letter to the presentor
